Julia Abonitalla is this month's featured student, and she is 18 years old and a first-year Physical Therapist student at Liceo de Cagayan University. Let's get to know her a little more as someone who is still getting used to this college life.
Julia revealed that Physical Therapy wasn’t her first choice for her college, rather she hasn’t really thought of what to get as her college course as long as it is part of any medical field. But her Ninong, who lives in the States and works as a PT, introduced Julia to what Physical Therapy is all about. Julia was having second thoughts in enrolling for PT course but she read articles about the profession and decided to take it, hence her being a PT student. So far, as a freshman physical therapy student, Julia’s favorite subject is Introduction to Physical Therapy. She mentioned that during the midterms and semi-finals she was fascinated with the topic since it is related with our body’s anatomy and physiology though it is still introductory, she finds it interesting because of the medical terms.
In relation to her academics, Julia said that she is most productive and creative at night (10 pm onwards) because her brain cooperates with her more during those times. Julia also shared that being a college student in an online setting is quite boring since she wasn't able to fully experience the life of a college student like bonding with the blockmates personally. It would have been better if everyone was seeing each other like having a group session to talk about academics. But also, during this first semester, Julia’s realization so far is that this semester is kinda easy since most of the subjects were general education and the majors are still in the introductory part. Not to mention that, Julia revealed that her future goals are simple and practical. She wants to graduate on time, pass the board exam, then work a bit to settle then pursue Doctor in Physical Therapy.
As a student who takes her academics seriously, Julia Abonitalla said that her inspiration is to put the right amount pressure on herself so that she won’t get a failing grades and also having to pass any of the activities or subject, giving yourself credit like self reward (eating out with the family) is important. Lastly, she stated that you have to set expectations and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
