Good day, CRS! As the month of May comes to an end, we would like to feature one of the most active students--Joiz Comely S. Nillas--a first year Occupational Therapy student at Liceo de Cagayan University. Let's get to know her more!
To begin with, Joiz chose Occupational Therapy out of curiosity, she saw that the OT course had the fewest reactions on FB post that is why she got curious and searched a little background about Occupational Therapy. She became interested in OT because she saw the future of taking care of her mommy, what a softhearted person she is. Occupational Therapy is one of the obscure courses for her, that is why she wanted to take OT because for her, it is a rare course. Liceo de Cagayan University offers a scholarship for the students because it is an unknown course in the said school. Joiz took the course and applied for a scholarship that needs attainable grades.
Joiz personally chose Occupational Therapy, nobody suggested it and she just discovered OT. Her family supports her studies by giving her moral support and motivating her. In return, Joiz gave back good grades and good feedback about her academic performance as a sign of gratitude to her supportive family. She's coping up in college during online classes by giving herself a good rest, treating herself, time management, sticky notes for upcoming plans, Google keep, unwind sometimes, solve problems in a systematic way and prioritizing her mental health because according to her, once you take good care of your mental health, everything will then follow.
As an active student in LDCU, her goals are to serve the CRS department as an officer, to help the CRS department bloom because of us, CRS students. She also wanted to have more active CRS students and another one is to take up med. She’d be taking up General Pediatrics but her first choice is Cardiothoracic Surgery. Lastly, is to work for rehabilitation or therapy centers and to have her own clinic.
Her greatest achievement as a student in the near future is to have OTRP next to her name. That is her goal, and after she achieves OTRP she would proceed to med school.
And lastly, her message and advice for the future OT students is that "Take the risk and become one of the few and the proud. Always prioritize your mental health because you will be challenged. Remember your goal. Bahalag halap basta nay dalan." We wish you well on your journey, Joiz!
