World PT Day

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

Good Day Jaguars!

World PT Day is slowly approaching us. But what exactly is this event, and why do we celebrate it? For starters, World PT Day takes place every year on September 8th. This day has been designated as World PT Day since 1996 and this year will mark its 25th year! On this

special day, recognition is given to the work that physiotherapists do for their patients and community all over the world. This is a day that truly marks the unity and solidarity of the global physiotherapy community. Our college will even be taking part in this day and having our own celebration! Hopefully, by celebrating this day, we can make a positive impact on the profession’s profile and bring further awareness to the crucial contribution that physiotherapists make in our society. It’s time we give thanks and recognition to the physiotherapists who allow us to live mobile, well, and independent lives!

Every year, there is a different theme for this day. For 2021, the theme focuses on the role of physiotherapists and rehabilitation in the treatment and management of people affected by Long COVID. We can all agree that COVID-19 has truly impacted all sorts of people in different careers and fields. With a pandemic that divides us and physical distance being one of the main forms of protection against COVID-19, health care providers are being challenged with a new norm of providing care. Especially in physiotherapy, where touch is essential. To this day, physiotherapists all over the world are still adapting to these limitations, but all are continuing to push forward! So this year’s celebration will be in recognition of physiotherapy and the impact COVID-19 has made in the profession.

Please stay tuned for further updates on activities that will be posted and shared as we

countdown to September 8, 2021! Hope to see you all there!
